It All Began With A Tweet
Ranjith eventually developed a Formula One iOS widget concept and reached out to the engineering community on Twitter for help with implementation. There he met Kamal Kumar, the ideal person with whom he could embark on the journey of developing the Box Box club. After a series of brainstorming sessions, he responded to the tweet, and they carried the passion forward.
Advancing the Concept
Ranjith accelerated the concept after witnessing a Formula One race in March 2022. Before releasing the final product, both founders raced through the tracks of multiple designs, layouts, and iterations.
The two founders launched The Box Box application on May 6, 2022, right before the Miami Grand Prix, with the goal of following their true passion and giving back to the racing community. They prepared to meet the demands of every F1 fan.
You can have every racing update at your fingertips thanks to their user-friendly widgets. However, their app also includes a race calendar, a race countdown timer, and the ability to track your favorite driver and function. They even included widgets with previous world champions to decorate your home screen.
They recognized the true need for a Box Box club from the start. Originally, the plan was to provide everything for free. They realized there are many users who want to keep up with the application after experiencing tremendous success in the first few months.
The Story of the Founder
The founders, Ranjith Ramanan and Kamal Kumar Lakshmanan are product designers and engineers by training, as well as Formula 1 fans at heart. Ranjith had been working for over 14 years, and his multidisciplinary skills allowed him to collaborate with a variety of brands. Kamal, on the other hand, is a technology enthusiast who has worked as a lead iOS developer for over 9 years.

To provide best-in-class service to F1 fans, the founders collaborate with 20+ creators/influencers from around the world, including creators from the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Spain, Mexico, Portugal, Australia, and others.
A large customer base is essential for success.
The app is currently used by 500,000 fans from 175 countries around the world. The most active users are in European countries such as Spain and the Netherlands, followed by Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
On social media platforms, users frequently asked the founders if they could get multiple features on the product. Ranjith stated that this is when we decided to go a step further in order to provide a significantly improved version of the product than the current one.
Plans for Growth and Development
Survival in life necessitates growth. They began as a widget-only app with initial personalization options to track 'Favorite Driver,' 'Favorite Constructor,' and 'Race Schedule'. Back then, users could track all information in their local time zones and three languages.
Box Box has evolved into a full-fledged app, with more personalized features like Formula 1 News, Race Countdown, World Drivers' and Constructors' Championship widgets. Users can now change the app's theme and update their language preferences to one of the six languages they support: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Dutch.
They didn't stop there, though. You can now access their widgets with your wrist. WidgetKit support in WatchOS 9 allowed.
Furthermore, because it is the most popular and requested on their social media channels, they create and share their own watch faces with users. Their first year taught them a lot, and they're getting ready to go full throttle for the 2023 Formula One season. Starting next year, the founders are even collaborating with other companies to gain access to live-streaming services via their Box Box application.
They are focusing more on the community and what the users want in order to become the best Formula 1 fan app ever. Box Box's new dashboard concept for 2023 will be one-of-a-kind. In fact, the founders will be working with Apple in the coming year to improve the user experience. It will persuade users.
Recognition and feedback
Box Box has become the best Formula 1 app for fans due to the large and supportive Formula 1 community. Even before the product was released, the founders were actively listening to user feedback and updating the app with different versions to improve the product.
"Whenever possible, Kamal and I personally connect with users via Twitter, Email, Instagram, and sometimes even WhatsApp," Ranjith said. The goal here is to understand the issue and get feedback from the source so that we can solve it and incorporate it into future versions." He went on to say that his co-founder is even learning Spanish so that he can better understand the needs of the Spanish people.
The founders more than doubled their user base in two days and were noticed by several top Formula One team, including Mercedes AMG Petronas, Aston Martin, and Haas F1 Team.
Mercedes Formula 1 Team began a tweet asking users to share their Lock screen with Box Box widgets, which resulted in users sharing their Lock screens with Box Box widgets. As a result, the app began trending at the top of the AppStore in about 20 countries. Other Formula One team, such as Aston Martin and Haas, created their own Lock screens with the app's widgets and shared them on their official TikTok accounts.
